Afro-politics Roundup

Barack Obama wants all Americans to “perform public service” as a “sacrifice for neighborhood and country”. Obama cites his years as a race agitator as an example of such sacrificial public service.

Jesse Jackson threatens to “cut” off Obama’s “n*ts”.1

Alhaji Baba Sheriff insists the Zongo Caucus of the Odododiodioo Constituency is not a divisive pressure group.

  1. I'm not sure why, but whenever I read a stroy about an African politician, I'm reminded of one of my favorite quotes from Ernest Hollings:

“Everybody likes to go to Geneva. I used to do it for the Law of the Sea conferences and you'd find those potentates from down in Africa, you know, rather than eating each other, they'd just come up and get a good square meal in Geneva.”

  2. That's funny.

I'm resisting the urge of transforming this into a blog about Ghanian politics, which are far more interesting than the boring McBama Ocain match-up. Not only do Ghanians have, as noted above, a Zongo Caucus and an Odododiodioo Constituency, they have a former president named Jerry John Rawlings (affectionately known as 'JJ' or 'Junior Jesus), who is half-Scottish.
